Artist Profile

Lynden Over

Lynden Over has studied glass extensively. From 1996-1998 he studied applied arts at Northland Polytechnic where he completed the diploma of applied arts, majoring in glass and jewellery. He has since studied under Lynette Campbell, Peter Viesnik, John Penman, Fritz Dreisbach, and Gary Nash.

On the completion of his study he continued to work in glass renting a local glass studio where he developed his own original range of collectable glassware.

In 2002 Lynden and his family moved to Taupo and opened Lava Glass, Glass Blowing Studio and Gallery.

Over creates his glass works by using pre-cooked glass, which is melted down over a period of 5-6 hours, then held at 1300 degrees Celsius for 13 hours in order to become 'pure and clean'. The furnace stays at a temperature of 1060 degrees Celsius all year round.
