The 2001 Catalogue features a strong display of work by women artists, including Frances Hodgkins, Margaret Stoddart, Rata Lovell-Smith, Helen Stewart, Evelyn Page and Gretchen Albrecht. Contemporary Maori women artists are also well represented with work by Emily Karaka, Kura Te Waru Rewiri, Huhana Smith and Saffron Te Ratana.
Historical works also have a large presence in this catalogue. The earliest work featured is by George French Angus. Dated 1844 The Volcanic Region of Pumice Hills reflects the artists interest in geological features of the terrain and the exoticism of the Maori. Four pages are dedicated to the work of John Gully, an artist generally considered New Zealand's greatest landscape painter of the nineteenth century.
Other artists featuring in this catalogue include Ralph Hotere, Michael Smither, Peter Siddell, Toss Woollaston, Sydney Lough Thompson, Gordon Walters and Tony Fomison.
