Born in Tasmania in 1943, David studied at the Institute of Technology from 1960-1965 and spent from 1967 to 1973 working in New Zealand.
Immediately prior to his departure for the UK in 1973, a survey exhibition toured the public galleries and in the same year David was awarded a QEII Arts Council award.
In his 17 years in Britain, David has exhibited widely - his most recent showing being at 199 Gallery in London in October 1989. At this show the public were treated to a strength of colour typical of his still lifes, which are his favourite subjects.
Awards have included the 1968 Manawatu Art Award and the Davern Prize in 1972 and his work is represented in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe and USA, and in St Catherines College, Cambridge (UK).
